Project Management in SAP Solution Manager

Project Management in SAP Solution Manager is a full and comprehensive Online project Management solution. This covers everything from commencement from execution, control, monitoring and ultimately, the conclusion of the project.

Process Management

Manage your business processes in a holistic way from both a business and IT perspective on processes, applications and system landscapes, all in one central location. Keeping your business documentation and system configuration in sync.

SAP Solution Manager provides two new key functions; Solution Administration and Solution Documentation.

Solution Administration: This provides an overview of existing solutions where you can display and maintain your solutions, as well as create and define new solutions. It can also be used by administrators to set up the environment for Solution Documentation

Solution Documentation: This will become the common directory for all business processes and associated documentation such as unification of templates, implementation, upgrades or maintenance projects and solutions.

This application can be used by specialists like business analysts, process modelers and functional consultants.

Change Control Management

This process controls changes in system landscapes in a comprehensive workflow. You create requests for change, edit them if necessary, and implement changes. You can perform the change control management activities across technology stacks and application components.

With SAP Solution Manager Change Control Management standardized processes, methods and tools will ensure high transparency and continuous
quality of the change process during the entire application life cycle.

IT Service Management

This process provides central message management and processing. With its integration of SAP Customer Relationship Management (SAP CRM), IT Service Management allows you to contact all parties involved in a message. These include all users of the system landscape or your company’s solutions, such as employees, customers, consultants, or support staff. With IT Service Management, you can connect to an external help desk, set up service connections, and access SAP Service & Support, If your IT system landscape also contains SAP solutions.

The SAP Solution Manager ITSM device is compliant with, and certified by, ITIL.

Test Management

Test Suite 7.2 is ‘a comprehensive test solution fitting the needs of the vast majority of SAP customers and includes all capabilities for functional testing of business processes enabled by SAP and non-SAP applications. You can determine the scope of testing required for cross-system business processes, manage the tests centrally and execute the tests. The test management has the following phases: determining the testing scope, test planning, testing, and transferring the changes to production operation

Test Cases are selected from the Solution Documentation structure / hierarchy to create a Test Plan for a release, upgrade, enhancement, or other change events. Test Plans can automatically be created Change Impact Analysis Test Scope Optimization.

Tricentis Integration with SAP Solution Manager

Tricentis Tosca was the first in the industry to feature SAP-certified integration with SAP Solution Manager, providing customers with risk-based and change-based testing for SAP software. SAP customers get free access to Tricentis Test Automation for SAP as part of their SAP Enterprise Support engagement. Both ALM platforms SAP Solution Manager and SAP Cloud ALM will allow the integration of Tricentis Test Automation for SAP. This will accelerate the move to SAP S/4HANA and the Intelligent Enterprise Suite significantly for customers.

Application Operations

Application Operations provides all capabilities for central monitoring, alerting, analysis, and administration of SAP solutions. It helps customers to reduce TCO by predefined content and centralized management tools for all aspects of operations in SAP Solution Manager. Customers can generate reports across solutions for detailed analysis.

Application Operations component consists of the following capabilities:

● System and Application Monitoring
You can monitor the status of complex landscapes and manage alerts using the End-to-End Monitoring and Alerting infrastructure.

● Technical Analytics and Dashboards
You can use interactive and technical reporting functions to run reports on various aspects across solutions. Use application operations dashboards to display the availability and performance of your managed systems.

● Technical Administration and Guided Procedures
You can perform efficient planning, implementation, execution, and reporting of the day-to-day operational activities.

● Root Cause Analysis and Exception Management
You can analyze the root cause of an incident and provide solutions for distributed and multi-technology solutions using a top-down approach.

Custom Code Management

Custom Code Management is the central point of access for all functions that you use to monitor and manage the complete lifecycle of custom developments from requirement to retirement. Transparency on your custom code is the basis for optimization and an efficient custom code management. You can continually optimize your custom developments, monitor the implementation and track usage and quality.

Data Volume Management

Data Volume Management (DVM) monitors the volume of data in your system landscape. Using the DVM work center, you can reduce the size of databases and the amount of data in your landscape, significantly lowering total operating costs. The DVM work center displays details of data volume movements in single or multiple system landscapes. The work center is based on an SAP Business Information Warehouse (BW) system and provides an integrated, landscape-based view of your data.  

Landscape Management

Landscape Management describes processes in the IT landscape that run across several tools:It provides information on IT landscapes as a basis for landscape operation and change planning of SAP centric solutions and helps customers to best manage and use the existing landscape and evolve it through new installations, update of Support Packages and enhancement packages, system upgrades or conversion to SAP S/4HANA and SAP BW/4HANA.

SAP Solution Manager’s cloud-based Maintenance Planner enables easy and efficient planning of all these changes in your SAP system landscape.
All calculations of changes are based on system information. The results of the Maintenance Planner are consumed by the Software Logistics Toolset.
